Principal's Welcome

Hello and welcome to a new school year! I just want to take a moment to say hello and introduce myself. I am Dr. Kirk, and I am very excited to be the new principal of both Portola Butler High School (Home of the Knights) and Pinnacle Coastal Valley Independent Study High School (Home of the Pioneers). I come to this new opportunity with over 20 years of experience in all grade levels and have worked in various areas with diverse populations. I strongly believe in education and its transformative potential in our lives, as well as the ability of all our students to be successful—whatever that looks like for them. I am here to help our program grow stronger and provide opportunities for the students. I expect everyone—staff, students, and guardians alike—to work in partnership, encouraging and supporting the mission of our school: that every student will be successful and meet their own individualized goals.
